HTC have decided to have another attempt at breaking into the tablet market after their, not so, successful start.

 

 

The HTC Flyer was released in May 2011 in the UK it was priced at around £599.99 which is a lot more than the Ipad 2 which was released in March 2011 which is priced at around £399.99. The HTC Flyer did not do too well; as most people opted for the more popular and cheaper Ipad 2.

However HTC have recently announced that they plan to release a new tablet in 2012 called the HTC Ice Cream Sandwich.

The HTC Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to have Android 4.0 as an operating system and will include HTC’s latest version of HTC sense. Furthermore the HTC Ice Cream Sandwich is likely to have the latest version of Dr Dre’s Beat audio which will make the HTC Ice Cream Sandwich the only tablet with this technology.

The HTC Ice Cream Sandwich will be a great piece of tech and will be highly anticipated but, as the Apple Ipad 3 will possibly be out around mid 2012 I predict that most people will skip the HTC Ice Cream Sandwich and go with the safer option of the Ipad 3.

At the same time we have migrated our existing Epygi VoIP telephone system to a 3CX VoIP telephone system in line with our ‘Use what you support’ strategy

Our existing 0845 680 1014 will be maintained and will continue to work as before for the foreseeable future. 

However, we will not be advertising the use of this number moving forward.

iOS 5! iOS 5 was released earlier this month and it has more than 200 new features. It is compatible with all the iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads. Some of the new features are very practical for example the iCloud, iCloud is an application which enables you to sync your Apple device with iTunes without using any cables; it does this by using the Wi-Fi connection which automatically syncs with your iTunes; you can also use the iCloud to back-up your Apple Device.

Another new feature is the newsstand which is an application where you can subscribe to your favourite magazine or newspaper; after subscription the latest edition of the magazine or newspaper will be downloaded onto your Apple device whenever the device is connected to the internet.

In addition; there is a new camera feature on the iOS 5. If you need to take a quick picture, instead of unlocking your Apple device and selecting camera, as soon as you press the hold button to access your Apple device there is an option to go straight on to the camera.

Also, there are updates to Safari and the messaging services i.e. iMessage which is a new service where you can send unlimited free messages to any able Apple device. In the new Safari you can save a reading list so you can read articles you stumble upon and find interesting when you have the time.

Yellowgrid welcome their newest recruit, Adam Albison. Adam will be completing an Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Professionals with QA whilst working full time at Yellowgrid. Adam will attend QA during the 12 month Apprenticeship period in order to receive relevant technical training in preparation for examinations which, upon successful completion, will provide him with 5 industry specific qualifications.

 These being:
• (MCTS) Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist
• CompTIA Network + and A+ certifications
• City & Guilds Certificate in IT Systems and Principles
• City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in IT Professional Competence

We have high hopes for Adam and believe that he will become a much valued member of the team. After completing his induction period, Adam will complete an intense period of in-house training. Once he achieves certain competencies, we will begin to introduce him to customer facing activities.

Being a talented chap, we expect this to be sooner rather than later.
